Jared Polis: The Most Destructive Politician in Colorado History

It’s no surprise that politicians lie, cheat, and steal.

But it is surprising when rational people believe the lies of politicians.

For example, Jared Polis calls himself a “libertarian,” and promises, “I will protect Colorado’s freedoms,” if he wins reelection.

You might find it hard to believe, but some people actually believe Colorado’s Clown Governor.

In a State full of professional criminals masquerading as politicians, Polis may be the worst offender.

Jared Polis’s behavior as Governor of Colorado may be the most destructive of any politician in recent history.

Hiding behind a false portrayal as a libertarian, Polis is at best dishonest, and at worst delusional.

A recent campaign email Polis’s campaign sent out illustrates his dishonesty:

Polis’s belief in freedom seems to only extend to abortion, same-sex marriage, and voters being able to reelect him to office.

He claims to support pro-liberty issues like cryptocurrency, cannabis, food freedom, and the elimination of the income tax.

But the reality of his policy positions reveal tyrannical attacks on Free People across Colorado.

Whether you like to breathe fresh air, own a gun, go to church, smoke tobacco or cannabis, or are an entrepreneur, farmer or rancher, Jared Polis has used his political power against your interests.

Let’s take a look at some examples of Polis’s authoritarian behavior.

Corruption

In 2020, The Colorado Sun revealed that Jared Polis’s Office was bringing in special interest money to fill his office with “special advisors.” (source)

Polis allowed politically-connected groups to fund Special Advisors to his cabinet.

Climate Groups were able to invest $126,000 per year into a Special Adviser on Climate and Energy position. The list of other Bought Special Advisers is at the bottom of the Colorado Sun article.

Jared Polis brought the DC establishment into the Colorado State’s Governor’s Office.

Polis sold the Colorado Governor’s Office to Wealthy Special Interests.

Not only that, but Polis also held meetings with tobacco company Altria to gain their support for tax increases that would hurt their competitors. (source)

The Pro-tax lobbyist even admitted, “Seems to be a distinct competitive advantage for Altria.”

The tobacco company lobby controlled how the bill was written, providing Colorado’s government with the specifics. (source)

Not only did Polis’s Proposition EE steal money from Colorado’s smokers and tobacco shops, but it also shifted the market in favor of Big Tobacco.

Simply put, Polis collaborated with a tobacco company to attack their competition.

And a newly released report from the Independence Institute shows how Polis increased “special interest tax benefits by approximately $640 million over ten years.

The increase on tax benefits was the opposite of what Polis promised during his campaign for Governor in 2018.

It seems that Polis isn’t working for the people of Colorado, he is working for, instead, it’s Special Interests with Deep Pockets.

The definition of corruption is: dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power.

With that in mind, is it accurate to call the Polis administration corrupt?

I think so.

Attacks on Religious Liberty

Colorado Churches were threatened by Jared Polis during his Covid crisis.

Polis tried to limit how many individuals could attend church service and force them to wear face coverings.

Big box retail stores were open, with hundreds of customers shopping daily, while churches were told they weren’t able to offer their services to everyone in the community.

Colorado churches fought back and won a lawsuit against Polis’s anti-religious measures. (source)

The churches’ attorneys argued:

“Colorado imposes capacity limits on houses of worship that are more severe than those that apply to other so-called critical businesses whose settings pose a similar risk of COVID-19 transmission. The state also allows a variety of exceptions to its facial-covering requirement where it recognizes that removing a mask is necessary to carry out a particular activity.”

Polis eventually dropped all the mandates against churches when the Supreme Court sided with churches in New York. (source)

Of course, Colorado must not forget the attacks on Jack Phillips and Masterpiece Cakeshop.

Although Phillips was initially targeted in 2012, he was targeted again in 2019, during Polis’s tenure.

Another victim of Polis’s discrimination against Christians is Lorie Smith, a web designer whose case is being considered by the Supreme Court.

Hopefully Polis will be held to account for his War on religious-minded Coloradoans.

Attacks on Legal Cannabis

Polis pretends to be a friend of Colorado’s legal cannabis industry.

His claims to support legal cannabis in Colorado, his record reveals a disturbing reality.

On June 24th, 2021, Polis signed HB21-1317 into law.

This anti-cannabis legislation devastated Colorado’s medical cannabis community.

The bill did the following:

  • Made it more difficult for 18-to-20 year olds to get a medical card.
  • Placed restrictions on physicians issuing certifications for medical cards.
  • Limited the amount of cannabis concentrate that can be sold to both medical and recreational users.
  • Created a tracking system to limit how much cannabis a medical patient can purchase.

With the stroke of his pen, Polis criminalized Colorado cannabis users who buy “too much cannabis.”

The cannabis community, sued Polis for restricting legal medical cannabis sales, and limiting sales of cannabis concentrate. (source & source)

Medical patients were left without their treatment, and doctors were left with new restrictions on their ability to provide treatment.

Polis lowered the amount of cannabis that is legally available to medical patients.

According to Westword, “In the first three months of 2022, after the new law went into effect, the DOR reported that medical marijuana sales had hit their lowest point since the state began tracking them in 2014.”

That’s right, Polis’s actions are responsible for a drop in Colorado’s cannabis sales.

The dishonesty of Colorado’s Governor shouldn’t be surprising, but unfortunately there are many who don’t realize the truth about Jared Polis.

And what is that truth?

Jared Polis is no champion of cannabis in Colorado.

Attacks on Tobacco

As mentioned above, Polis colluded with Big Tobacco to protect their products in return for them not fighting back against his tax increase. (source)

The bill that caused this controversy was HB20-1427, Cigarette Tobacco And Nicotine Products Tax.

This bill is what put Proposition EE on the ballot in the fall of 2020.

No on EE– A Bad Deal for Colorado Campaign Sign

Thanks to EE, and Polis’s signature which sent the proposition to voters, cigar smokers will be facing a 62% tax within the next five years!

To make matters worse, anyone who may be trying to quit smoking by using vape products will also be subject to a 62% “nicotine product” tax!

And cigarette smokers will be paying a $2.64 tax per pack!

Polis has been attacking Colordoans ability to control their own bodies.

Polis and his authoritarian cohorts in the State Legislature want to decide what products you are allowed to consume.

Attacks on the Family

You can still privately get vaccinated without your parent or spouse knowing…” (source)

That’s what Jared Polis told Coloradoans in 2021.

Promoting Big Pharma over Colorado families is a moment that Colorado voters must not forget.

Attacks on Medical Freedom

In August 2021, Colorado mandated all health care workers to receive a drug injection, or lose their jobs.

Jared Polis streamlined the process for firing state employees who refused to get the Covid injection, by signing an order in October of 2021.

Attacks on Small Business

In July 2020, Polis, under pretext of Covid, made it illegal for businesses to serve alcohol after 10 PM.

Of course, that’s not as bad as telling all Colorado businesses that they must shut down if he doesn’t deem them essential.

Or commanding workers to stay home and not go to work.

Take a read through the 2020 Executive Orders that Polis pushed out, and try not to get sick: https://www.colorado.gov/governor/2020-executive-orders

Polis has been bad for Colorado business.

Attacks on Denver’s Unhoused

After Polis shuttered the economy, he called on law enforcement to push out those staying on government property.

The Denver Pest reported:

Polis wasn’t clear on the specifics of Denver’s policies, saying he doesn’t follow Denver politics, but that he’s urged the mayor and City Council to act for weeks.

“They are welcome to come onto our property and remove tents,” Polis said, adding that law enforcement is not only welcome but encouraged to do so.

Polis had no problem calling in the cops to kick out unhoused individuals from State Property.

Of course some of that State Property was the Governor’s Mansion.

Polis pushed the unhoused off of the Governor’s Mansion property, and onto the streets of Denver.

Attacks on Your Right to Defend Yourself & Your Family

The 2022 gun control efforts in Boulder County and other areas would not be possible without Polis.

In June of 2021, Polis signed SB21-256, which prompted gun bans in Boulder, Superior, Lafayette, and Louisville.

Also in 2021, Polis turned peaceful gun owners into criminals when he signed HB21-1106.

Under the law, if Colorado gun owners don’t store their firearms in the “state-approved” way, they face criminal charges. (source)

Polis’s actions have led to a rash of anti-gun attacks on Coloradoans.

Jared Polis signed SB21-256, ushering in a new age of gun control in Colorado

Attacks on Rural Colorado

Discussing Polis’s war on rural Colorado would take many articles, but here are some highlights:

Let’s start with something small that shows Polis’s disdain: With Covid as his excuse, Polis shut down a rodeo promoter in Weld County.

What’s even worse is that Colorado’s food-producing industry has been in the cross-hairs for years.

In July 2020, Jeff Rice in the Sterling Journal-Advocate reported that:

If Colorado Gov. Jared Polis had deliberately set out to alienate Colorado’s fourth-largest industry, he couldn’t have done a better job than he seems to have done unwittingly over the past two years.

Both of Rice’s articles on Jared Polis pushing the Urban/Rural divide illustrate how bad Polis has been for Colorado’s Rural communities.

In 2020, Polis appointee was Ellen Kessler resigned after calling ranchers “nasty,” and “lazy.” (source)

Kessler wasn’t Polis’s only anti-ag appointee.

Polis also put forward animal rights activists for a key position over the choices of the Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture.

For that position, Rebecca Niemiec, an anti-meat, pro-wolf advocate was chosen by Polis for this agricultural position. (source)

Terry Fankhauser, executive vice president of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association is quoted in the Fence Post article:

“The message being sent by the governor is agriculture being a mortal enemy of the Department of Agriculture and the state… That message is being heard loud and clear. We are under attack.”

Attacks on All Coloradoans

During his Covid-crisis, Polis told Coloradoans that if they followed Weld County’s disobedience: “No government policy can force anybody not to be stupid — but I’m calling on Coloradans not to be stupid.”

Implying that Coloradoans are stupid if they don’t put a mask on.

Polis described his speaking at a Covid press conferences as using his “dad voice” to tell Coloradoans not to disobey his edicts.

That’s right, as sick as it sounds, Polis thinks of himself as a parent to all of us.

Of course, the Covid-era highlights the worst of Polis’s tyranny.

Take a look at the Covid Orders that Polis enacted and ask yourself if this is a man who supports Liberty: https://covid19.colorado.gov/public-health-orders-and-executive-orders

Clearly, Polis has not been a force for liberty in Colorado.

John Caldara put it best when he denounced Polis’s claim to libertarianism:

A guy who outlaws selling dogs in pet stores, who dictates what container you can use to bring your food home from the restaurant, who taxes your Uber ride, wants to outlaw your gas kitchen stove and water heater, who crushes the oil and gas, ranching and ag industries, who signs on to California’s nutty emission standards, who raised taxes by billions without voter approval by calling them “fees,” whose appointees want to force private employers to keep databases on how their employees commute and punish them if they drive a car, who raised gas taxes, who is allowing local government workers to unionize, well, is not a guy who wants to leave you alone.

What do you think?
