Interview: Natural Medicine Colorado: Proposition 122 – Kevin Matthews & Veronica Lightning Horse Perez

Natural-Medicine-Interview

Colorado’s 2022 November election is poised to be historic.

Voters will have an opportunity to vote on candidates and ballot initiatives that would fundamentally change Colorado’s political landscape.

Proposition 122, Natural Medicine Health Act of 2022, previously known as Initiative 58, would establish a regulated, medical access program, for licensed healing centers where natural medicines could be dispensed by medical professionals, and would also decriminalize five specific natural medicines.

These natural medicines include dimethyltryptamine (DMT), ibogaine, mescaline (excluding peyote), psilocybin, and psilocyn.

Coloradoans 21-years and older would be able to seek these natural medicines for mental health treatments.

And with decriminalization, individuals would no longer have to fear criminal charges for possession of these natural substances, so long as the amounts are only for personal use.

Kevin Matthews, and Veronica Lightning Horse Perez are the two individuals behind this measure.

In this interview, they answer some common questions, and explore some of the nuance of their initiative.
