Make Your Own Hard Cider? – The Free Life

Colorado has many well-known hard cider companies: C-Squared, Stem Ciders, Talbott’s Ciders, and Colorado Cider Company are some of the ones I’m familiar with.

Even with high sugar content, ciders are usually gluten free, and provide a refreshing alternative to beer in the summer heat.

Even the legend of Johnny Appleseed is thought to revolve around cider production.

Ever since I heard stories about cider being the drink of choice in colonial New England, where each family farm made their own cider for sale, trade, and enjoyment, the image of decentralized cider production, circumventing the regulatory apparatus of the State has been in my mind.

Creating a free society, in which every individual can live their lives to their desires, will not be easy. But producing your own alcohol is a start!

A society in which decentralized farmers make their own hard cider, is the society I want to live in. How about you?
