Interview: Natalie Menten explains the 2022 Ballot – Jefferson County & Propositions 123 & GG

The 2022 Ballot has a variety of State and local initiatives for Colorado voters to consider this year.

As usual, State and County officials are pushing measures to steal our Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) refund, and increase the State’s control over our lives.

Thirty years ago, Colorado voters added TABOR to the State Constitution, and for thirty years, politicians have been trying to circumvent the will of the voters.

Some politicians want to get rid of TABOR because it limits the amount of taxes that State and Local governments can collect from taxpayers.

If a government in Colorado collects too much tax money, TABOR makes them pay it back to Colorado taxpayers.

It’s because of TABOR that Colorado taxpayers received checks in the mail this year, not because of the Governor or State Legislature.

Unfortunately, misleading ballot language can lead voters to vote against their interests.

Thankfully, we have Liberty Leaders like Natalie Menten.

This is the second year that Natalie has joined me to share her knowledge and expertise.

Natalie’s political experience includes spending eight years on the RTD board, spearheading the repeal of the grocery tax in Lakewood, and she is one of the State’s strongest defenders of TABOR, serving on the board of the TABOR Foundation and TABOR Committee.

Natalie is an expert at deciphering ballot language, and she shares information on some of this year’s ballot initiatives in this video.

Our conversation has been divided into four parts, going over each of the initiatives we discussed, and the full video is at the bottom.

Jefferson County Initiative 1A

In this video, Natalie goes into detail on Jefferson County Ballot Measure 1A. (26 minutes, 14 seconds)

Natalie explains that 1A is a tax increase that steals our TABOR tax refunds.

Property owners and renters can expect less money in their pockets if 1A passes.

There is more information at NoJeffcoTaxHike.com.

Natalie’s explanation should be understood by anyone who wants to defend the Liberty of Colorado citizens.

This is the first part of our conversation, where Natalie is introduced, and she explains the problems with 1A, and how similar initiatives are appearing across the state.

As Natalie explains, 1A is bad for Liberty.

Jefferson County Initiative 1B

In this video, Natalie explains Jefferson County Ballot Measure 1B. (4 minutes 37 seconds)

1B appears to be a pro-liberty initiative, because it allows for the legal production and sale of cannabis in unincorporated Jefferson County.

However, 1B would exempt this cannabis tax revenue from our TABOR refunds, permanently.

This means Jefferson County would be able to steal more of our tax money, beyond what the constitution allows.

In this clip, Natalie explains why Colorado Liberty-minded voters should reject 1B

Yes, the sale and production of cannabis should become legal in unincorporated Jefferson, but the tax revenue should be subject to Constitutional TABOR restrictions.

1B is bad for liberty due to the TABOR exmpetions.

Jefferson County Initiative 1C

In this video, Natalie explains Jefferson County Ballot Measure 1C. (4 minutes, 20 seconds)

If passed, 1C would create a 6% tax on legal cannabis sales in Unincorporated Jefferson County.

To make matters worse, this new tax revenue would be exempt from TABOR!

This is yet another attempt to steal our tax refunds.

Taxation is theft, and Colorado voters must reject any new taxes.

This is the most straightforward ballot measure in Jefferson County this year.

New taxes must be rejected.

1C is bad for liberty.

Statewide Proposition 123

Natalie explains Statewide Proposition 123. (18 minutes, 10 seconds)

123 would Dedicate Revenue for Affordable Housing Programs.

This nefarious initiative would steal Colorado’s TABOR refunds to create a State-controlled Housing Scheme.

Natalie explains the details of why this initiative is one of the worst on the ballot this year.

Her in-depth explanation is very useful for Coloradoan’s who want to gain knowledge of how politicians attempt to increase State Control over our lives.

Check out my thoughts in my 2022 Ballot Guide.

Proposition 123 is very bad for liberty.

Statewide Proposition GG

In this video, Natalie explains the problems with Proposition GG. (6 minutes 49 seconds)

This is a very tricky initiative.

At first, liberty-minded Coloradoans would expect that increasing ballot transparency would be a good thing.

But the reality is much different.

GG is a scheme designed by some of Colorado’s most authoritarian legislators to rig the ballot in their favor.

GG only applies to citizen-driven initiatives, not initiatives placed on the ballot by politicians.

Natalie explains the nuance of the measure, and why Colorado voters should reject it.

GG was a deceptive initiative created by pro-tax politicians.

GG is bad for liberty.

Natalie’s experience is invaluable for Colorado Liberty Activists.

In this hour long video, she shares knowledge from her many years of activism.

She not only gives a great explanation of TABOR and how local politicians have been working to erode our constitutional protections, but also what voters should be looking for on future elections.
