Denver Mayor, Mike Johnston is facing ridicule and controversy over a poorly thought out statement.
Johnston made international headlines with his claim that Denver’s police and citizens would put themselves between Federal law enforcement and illegal aliens in the city.
“DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there…It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right?” “You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.” reports Denver 7.
I don’t think Mayor Johnston believes this for a minute, I think he is just attempting to placate his anti-Trump base. The Mayor backed down from his statements this week, but is still willing to “go to jail” over his defense of illegal immigrants.
Looking at some other headlines in Denver this week, the Mayor would do well to stick to the topic of Trump and not the failure of the homeless programs or the terrible crime that is plaguing the city.
