The Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) Commission has become a hotbed of controversy and the center of political fights to determine the future of Colorado.
Now, the CPW Commission is considering two petitions that could fundamentally change how hunters, ranchers and farmers operate in Colorado.
The most controversial is a proposed ban on the use of traditional lead ammunition for hunting.
Another petition would restrict or ban the hunting of prairie dogs on public land.
Colorado’s rural communities aren’t happy with these proposals.
In this video, Brandon is joined by two important voices.
Rep. Larry Don Suckla represents many western slope mountain communities in the Colorado Legislature. He is also a rancher and farmer.
Commissioner Jack Murphy serves on the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission and is a co-founder and president of Urban Wildlife Rescue.
In this video, we discuss the effects of these proposals and the larger questions about Colorado’s rural vs urban divide.
