Colorado Judicial Branch Exempt from Open Records Act Requests? Cory Went Looking for Records…

Colorado has great Sunshine Laws, including our Open Records Act (CORA), Open Meetings Laws and the Transparency Online Project (TOPS).

These are important tools to know what the government is doing with our money.

Cory Gaines, a local citizen journalist was researching a big expense from the Judicial Branch to Marriott Hotels, and soon learned that the Judicial Branch is not subject to the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA).

In this video, Cory talks about researching government spending through TOPS, CORA and discusses thoughts on expanding Colorado’s Sunshine Laws.
