Colorado’s budget crisis was not a surprise to Colorado Legislators.
Throughout the 2025 Regular Legislative Session, Republicans provided solutions to lower spending, cut costs, and prepare for a budget crunch.
But, the Democratic Majority refused to make changes.
Now, the Legislature is meeting for a Special Session to address a budget shortfall created by a billion dollar tax cut under HR 1.
Representative Ty Winter serves in the State House as the Assistant Minority Leader, and represents House District 47 in Southeastern Colorado.
In this video, Rep. Winter explains the budget issue, provides context on the Special Session, and explains how the Legislature, under the Democratic Majority is failing in it’s duties.
