Colorado’s State Legislators want more of your money!
Earlier this year, they passed HB25-1296 to continue taxing your overtime pay, because they knew Congress and the Trump administration were planning on ending federal income taxes on overtime.
But, they did not pass a bill to continue taxing the tips of hardworking Coloradans.
This means that once the Federal Government stops collecting taxes on income from tips, so will the State of Colorado.
This could cost the State Government “as much as $30 million annually,” according to a fiscal note from proposed legislation in 2020.
Now that the State of Colorado is going to lose hundreds of millions of dollars due to changes at the Federal level, the Governor is calling a Special Session of the Legislature to deal with these cuts.
Colorado workers are at risk of having more money stolen from their paychecks, which would be disastrous in these tough economic times.
That’s why I’m asking you to sign the petition to tell the State Legislature: Do not tax our tips!
And because Coloradans are struggling to make ends meet, the petition also asks State Legislators to Repeal the Tax on Overtime at the State Level!
Coloradans work hard for their money, and they deserve to keep it!
Every Signed Petition will be printed and delivered to the Colorado State House & Senate Leadership during the Special Session:
No Taxes on Tips & End the Tax on Overtime!
Whereas: The People of Colorado are facing challenges with affordability and financial stability,
Whereas: Hardworking Coloradans deserve to keep the money they earn,
Whereas: The Federal Government will no longer consider tips or overtime as taxable income,
Whereas: Colorado has traditionally coupled income tax collection with federal guidelines,
Therefore: I urge Colorado’s State Legislators to refuse any attempt to collect income tax on tips, and to repeal the recent addition to taxation of overtime income.
