Colorado Democrats in the State Legislature claim they champion the rights of the disadvantaged.
These politicians want voters to think they stand up for historically oppressed groups.
Unfortunately, it seems that the oppressed have become the oppressors.
State Representative Elisabeth Epps and State Senator Rhonda Fields have sponsored a bill that would disarm gun owners in Colorado.
This includes disarming minority gun owners.
A gun is the best tool for someone to protect themself with.
It’s affordable, it’s effective, and it is accessible for nearly everyone without a criminal record.
When it comes to defending your home or your family, a firearm is your best choice.
HB23-1230 would ban the guns most commonly used by gun owners to defend their family and their household.
Elisabeth Epps started her political career getting people out of prison, but now that she’s a politician, she wants to lock more people up.
Fields and Epps should know better.
After all, they both accused law enforcement of targeting marginalized communities.
Who do they think this law will be used to target?
Do Epps and Fields think their law will be used to jail the wealthy?
No, their law will be used to jail the poor, the working class, and anyone who might disagree with the status quo.
Working class families can’t afford expensive security systems.
They rely on being able to defend their own home with their own gun.
By denying people their right to self-defense, Epps and Fields are telling members of their communities to trust the police to keep them safe.
It didn’t take long for Epps to lose touch with her roots.
What a sad and sorry state of affairs for Colorado’s elected Democrats.
