Rural Colorado is under threat from a Federal Land Takeover.
The Gunnison Outdoor Resources Protection (GORP) Act would strip local control from Western Slope communities, destroying jobs, and shutting down recreation.
This Federal Takeover would mean that ranchers would lose grazing land and that energy and mineral producers would lose opportunity.
Sponsored by Colorado Senators Michael Bennet, John Hickenlooper, and Congressman Jeff Hurd this horrible legislation would take 730,000 acres away from the people of Colorado.
Montrose County Commissioner Sean Pond has become a vocal opponent of the GORP Act as well as the Dolores River National Monument.
In this video Commissioner Pond explains that Land is the key to freedom for the people of the Rocky Mountains, and when the Federal Government restricts the use and access of this land, the people suffer.
Coloradans are urged to contact Bennet, Hickenlooper and Hurd and tell them to STOP the GORP Act!
